Bio:

Hazel Gale began boxing in 2010. Having competed in kickboxing for a few years she found that she was favouring her hands and enjoyed the boxing style more so it seemed like a natural progression. Having initially boxed for Gator ABC who 'looked after me brilliantly for years' Hazel now boxes for Islington ABC. Working as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist, specialising in sports psychology and performance, Hazel loves helping people get the best out of themselves. 'I see a fair few fighters in my practice and I'm excited that as I approach retirement from competition I can stay in touch with the world of boxing this way.'

FAQ:
Question:
Best moment in boxing?
Answer:
My recent win in Denmark verses the (much more experienced) national representative. The entire weekend was really enjoyable: the fight and sense of achievement (obviously); but also the time we had to enjoy the city and the experience. It felt like a great example of why I feel so privileged to be able to compete abroad in a sport I'm passionate about.
Question:
Worst moment in boxing?
Answer:
Having to pull out of the elite ABA final last year due to coming down with the flu (proper flu that is, not just a man flu cold!). I was absolutely devastated!
Question:
Ambitions in boxing?
Answer:
I've had two offers to box in an England vest, neither of which were successfully matched. That's still my main ambition.
Question:
Top 3 London boxers?
Answer:
I'm lucky to train regularly with three excellent (and very different) boxers: Valerian Spicer (57kg, IBC), Cherrelle Brown (64kg, IBC) and Oriance Lungu (63.5kg, Haringey). They say you're only as good as your sparring partners which is why I value these girls so highly. Ori is my tip for the top. Young, strong and super talented!
